In Isaiah 4, it talks about seven women (the church) taking hold of one man (Jesus). It says they will come to Him and say, “We don’t want your bread (the Word), and we don’t want your clothes (holiness); we just want you to know that we’re saved.” Isaiah is describing a church that wants the perks of knowing Him but totally lacks intimacy.

The Lord goes on to say that He will address that issue, but for the “burning ones:” those who carry His heart of intercession and those who have been beaten up by trials yet are still standing He promises something more. For this group (the remnant), He promises to be a cloud by day, a fire by night, and a covering for His close friends.
